Re: The cofc and neurodivergence?

As to services three times a week that came about because of WW2 with people having to work on Sunday so they came up with alternative times for people to attend. I can struggle through one but not three a week!!!!

Re: Biggest lie told by CoC?

That they were established on the Day of Pentecost in A.D. 33. In reality, the modern coC can trace it's origin no further back than Barton Stone's Cane Ridge meeting in 1801. To claim more than that is gross prevarication. The coC isn't identified by that name until around 1906. They are from bein...

Ivy: Along those lines I have heard someone say "there is a reason there is a highway to hell but only a stairway to heaven"!

Biggest lie told by CoC?

Here is an interesting question. What is the biggest lie told by the CoC. I will get it started. What I think is the biggest lie is the wine mentioned in the Bible wasn't alcoholic it was really grape juice. It doesn't say this anywhere else. The second I would rate as in the case of divorce for adu...

Re: Remarriage!

It just amazes me how important an issue this is to the fundamentalists. I am forced to conclude they love to make others miserable and derive pleasure from that.

Re: Message of Hate and discord

Bill Maher and others say he is quite logical and sticks to the subject behind the scenes when in discussions. All this disjointed verbal diarrhea is just to mimc and attract his followers who do indeed think like that. If he's faking worse than he is, that is even more despicable. I don't think he...

Thanks, I read his address, not the work of a logical thinking rational person, it is actually frightening.

Re: Original Bible?

Interesting perspective from Statement from East Side Baptist church, I haven't seen the CoC take this hard a line: "We believe God not only inspired every word, but has preserved them through the ages. We believe the King James Version is the preserved Word of God for the English-speaking peop...

Message of Hate and discord

I wonder if anyone remembers these passages being discussed in the CoC and how they are explained away. I read these passages and am revolted by them. They contradict the common view of Jesus as a good person. “Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but ...

Re: Paul's views on women.

There could have been deaconesses in the early church, and they taught people outside the general worship assembly. It doesnt contradict Pauls instructions for a woman not to preach or teach in a worship service or what we later called one. Bart Ehrman firmly feels the passages telling women not to...
