Re: a coc theological question

I don't know if this is helpful or not, but Paul seemed to understand that to be absent from the body is to be at home with the Lord. You can read Paul's theology on this subject in 2 Cor. 5:6-9 and Phil. 1:21-24.

Re: About to leave the CoC

I agree that how you treat people is most important. Jesus said the two commandments "Love God" and "Love your neighbor as yourself" summed up the whole Law of Moses, and doing the second is the same as doing the first. The apostle Paul said the same thing: For you were called t...

Re: Anyone familiar with these lunatics?

I tried to watch it, but that guy is just too annoying to view for very long. My time is better spent on other things.

Re: "Traces of the Kingdom" Refutation project

I believe all believers and followers of Christ make up the church. You do not have to look exactly like the first century church. I'm on the same page as you, FF. I believe that there is a church of Christ, and that it is made up of all believers from all denominations, including even some from th...

Re: "Traces of the Kingdom" Refutation project

Glad that you are taking the time to refute some of the fairy tales that the CoC has come up with, Walker. I think they are so insecure that they latch on to books like Sisman's in a misguided effort to make themselves appear to be legitimate. This is some very good material that you've produced. Th...

Re: Rebooting

If I were a Pentecostal I would certainly like to ask the CoC to explain "how can you even talk about biblical Christianity and claim to be The One True Church while at the same time completely ignoring and neglecting the work and power of the Holy Spirit?"

Re: Leaving CoC

Hello Taylor, and welcome to the board. I was raised in a situation similar to yours, but this was back in the 1960s. My family were/are faithful members, and my dad was a very respected elder. Believe me when I say that growing up in this environment was a terrible experience due to many of the chu...

Re: c of C doctrines and beliefs I didn't agree with

One of the main doctrines that I did not agree with is that religious non-cofc people are "not christians", "not saved", etc; only cofc people were christians. The arrogance of it was appalling to me. I had the same problem with the same doctrine, Ivy. A CoC preacher told me one...
