Re: Hello again
What a story, Gordie, glad that you made it through such a difficult time and hope you post-COVID symptoms lessen with time. Were you vaccinated before or after getting it? Thanks all, good to be back at it. SolaDude, I wasn't vaccinated before and my doctor has advised me, due to all the heart pro...

Re: Typical! "RIP"
How on earth does this dope know that EVH didn't submit his life over to the lord?
My priest recently talked about this type of thinking and how we should regard ourselves to the strict standards and not others. By doing that we do not fall victim to PRIDE!!!!!
Boy do I remember people like that.

Re: Ready to Recover
Welcome to the board. Your story is very heartbreaking and I wish you all the best. Agri's advice is very good and when I started coming here helped me quite well. I would recommend finding some of her posts related to leaving and dealing with all that is involved when one does leave. So first we le...

Re: NICOC evolving? Is it possible?
But lest we forget...if it evolves much, it will no longer be an NICOC; it will be something else. That is so very true but when I think about it, it only applies to the immediate moment. When people talk about their beliefs and practices today. Like talking to my sibling or my wife's cousin, aged ...

Re: NICOC evolving? Is it possible?
Maybe, a tentative maybe. I was at one last year and noticed the same thing. However, when the preacher had his turn there was some mention of "the plan" and the deceased's desire for everyone to find salvation with the implication being her brand. But it was not mean or turn before you bu...

Re: Public shaming
Wow Ham that is bold! Not sure that would encourage many to come to the meetings, maybe encourage them to leave but not so much for staying. Guilt trips, that's it. They were good at that. They asked me that about work when I was in college. But, I worked Sunday mornings. On purpose. The GM at my j...

Re: Charity story/question
The only thing I can add here is that my parents, when I was growing up, did not donate to any charities or do any volunteer work (except church work). I realize now it was part of the influence of their religion, C of C. They also said they didn't donate to charities because they paid taxes for th...
