Re: Introducing myself

Welcome to our Board. We are glad to have you. Parents can be difficult, but you don't have to tell them everything, as others here have said. I am a bit surprised you have not gotten any flack from the COC that you attend on Wednesdays. My old churches would have harassed me about my absence on Sun...

Re: Catholicism - feel free to ask

I am earnest in my search for understanding. When I became a member of the CofC I followed blindly. Now I like to know what it is that I am thinking about believing and I want to understand in the most total way I can. I have searched the scriptures and have not found where it says that Mary was bo...

And it can be scary for them to talk to you or me about COC beliefs, because they don't want to develop doubts of their own. Tough living with family when you are going ...

Re: Ask about Judaism

Even our west Texas town has a synagogue. (Not the tiny town near the ranch, the somewhat larger town an hour away.) One of their long-term members (is that even the right word?) came to live in the nursing home where I worked. He kept kosher, and no one except me seemed to understand any of the rul...

Actually, I care, Ivy. I would be traumatized if I heard you had returned to the One True Church! ;)

Re: songs about leaving the coc

This song is in memory of the terror we felt during the COC efforts to bring us back into the fold, and then our relief when they finally gave up. ANSWER THE PHONE (Cindy Walker) Sung by Ernest Tubb - 1955 So Answer The Phone when it rings, darlin’ And if somebody knocks let them in You don’t have t...
