Re: The cofc and neurodivergence?

I don' know if it was designed that way, but I do think it provides comfortable landing spot for people with OCD tendencies, and anxiety.

Re: Biggest lie told by CoC?

We were always ALWAYS taught that the church was founded in AD 33 and that was carved on the cornerstone of the building. Also that the church had ALWAYS existed throughout history (without any evidence of that whatsoever). I NEVER heard the names 'Alexander Campbell' or 'Barton Stone' until I was m...

Re: Are baptized people told to renounce adulterous marriage?

I just don't see how they can get away with such claims. Isn't Jesus' death on the cross supposed to wipe away ALL sins? Isn't baptism into Christianity supposed to make a person entirely (spiritually speaking) new like a baby? This no divorce stuff is VERY THEOLOGICALLY SPEAKING CRAP THEOLOGY, and ...

Re: Prepping for Passover

Oh sure - and my husband and I went straight out for pizza as soon as it was over. This is ALMOST (but not quite) as popular a Jewish custom as Chinese food on Christmas Day.

Nothing like carbs after a week long carb fast.

I ate an entire 12 inch pizza all by myself (and so did he).

Re: Original Bible?

Remember, there is no 'original Bible' without considering the original INDIVIDUAL BOOKS which were included. Every book in every Bible has its own history or composition and copying history. The books existed for centuries - being copied over and over again - before anybody at all decided to offici...

Re: Original Bible?

Honestly, dropping 'let us go out into the field' hardly makes a substantive change in the story - but it is still a 'missing line'. AND it is a line missing from ALL the copies of the Torah (there are over 50 represented, but almost none of them are complete) in the Dead Sea Scrolls, which are the ...

Re: Original Bible?

There is no single 'original text' of anything. Every existing ancient text is a copy of some earlier text, sometimes a copy of a copy of a copy -= dating back through multiple 'generations' of copiers. The Dead Sea documents were (are) a treasure trove of ancient COPIES of earlier texts - and since...

Re: Prepping for Passover

And now - for the Christians who seem to worry about this a lot - remember please, Jewish days begin at sundown. So 'the first night' is the BEGINNING of the day of Nisan 15th - the night of the full moon. When the Temple stood, the staff there was busy ALL DAY on the 14th - the day before Passover ...

Re: Prepping for Passover

In addition to the first seder (tonight) which I am hosting here at home with our neighbors (not Jewish), the synagogue is hosting a catered seder for the second night, for people who either don't have one at home, or want to celebrate with their synagogue family. It's Reform, so it is VERY short, a...
