Re: Looking for advice on buying medicine
Ordering? My doctor prescribes drug X, and asks me which pharmacy I prefer, and I tell the office. I use the pharmacy at my usual grocery store. No special trips. Do you mean over the counter stuff? Usually I pick that up at the grocery store also, but my Medicare Advantage plan has a OTC benefit, w...

Re: instruments
Well I now attend/belong to (golly gee, I'm on the BOARD) of a Reform synagogue, and there is a choir (though not every week) and sometimes it is accompanied by a piano. And sometimes the rabbi pulls out his sax (I kid you not). At this point in my life, this is something I don't MIND, and I enjoy m...

Re: Acts 2
Absolutely we were taught that the Old Law was 'nailed to the Cross' and that everything UP TO that point was under the 'old law' (explains why Jesus was going to the Temple and talking about sacrifices and tithes). And THEN you had the 'new law' and Paul, Paul, Paul all over the place. If the NT we...

Re: Preterism?
It certainly stops people from going nuts over signs of the end times and making theories about Armageddon out of Revelation.

Re: CoC disfellowships Disciples of Christ
That was pretty fast. I was told it was over instrumental music, but that seems too specific.

Re: Disfellowship stories/issues?
I slipped out the back Jack. Got a new plan, Stan. Basically, I ghosted them fifty years ago and never really looked back. Probably the old guard died off without ever realizing and the new guard never knew anyway. Lord knows, my PARENTS never told anybody! Mother thought it would make her look bad ...

Re: Knowledge of CoC preachers?
It seems to me that the better quality CoC preachers - the ones with college and seminary - know quite a lot, but also know that their congregations do NOT know much background at all, and the CoC as a whole is not into 'let's educate everybody to a higher level' but instead is more focused on pasto...

Re: 24 hour and longer prayer sessions
We did 24 hours and more 'sings' but not praying like that. Where were you? Sings were a 'thing' in Tennessee. Songleaders would sometimes give us alternative tunes, or have everybody singing ALL the verses instead of one, two and five, or something like that. Also older songs, and some unfamiliar s...

Re: Original Version of Bible?
I checked - Paul started preaching at C. H. in 1962 and continued until he died in 2000. (37 years +) at age 86. He had stepped kind of 'down' the last few years - the church was large and could support a second preacher (Tom Holland, then Dan Winkler - I guess that's when they started having a mini...
