Re: songs about leaving the coc
This song is in memory of the terror we felt during the COC efforts to bring us back into the fold, and then our relief when they finally gave up. ANSWER THE PHONE (Cindy Walker) Sung by Ernest Tubb - 1955 So Answer The Phone when it rings, darlin’ And if somebody knocks let them in You don’t have ...

Re: Bad Sermons & Worse Logic
“You get out of Church what you put into it” What they really mean is…..when there is a horrible preacher or song leader it’s my fault for not trying hard enough while sitting in my pew. The lousy preacher or song leader always gets a free pass. "Well, we don't go to church to be entertained!&...

Re: coc ‘Authorized’ Extra Services
In regards to meeting twice on Sunday, even though it's not authorized it still needs to be done to show everyone that the CoC is just as religious as the Baptists! The CoC can't let those silly Baptists do anything that would make them look less religious! Even the Baptists are now letting their f...

Re: coc ‘Authorized’ Extra Services
Obviously, the coc is against a Good Friday service (or similar) since it is not ‘authorized’ however they had so many extra services that I can’t find in my New Testament (see list below). How in the world do they justify these? • Elders Meeting • Gospel Meeting • Ladies Meeting • Singing • Mens M...

Re: Former one cupper
I was raised non sunday school but used the little cups in the communion. I did visit a one cup church a lot because the preacher was my friend. I visited enough to know the things you no doubt speak of. I always thought that "one cup" and "non-sunday school" went hand in hand b...

Re: Church Humor / Pranks
    Y'all were so bad!!! Love it. At one non-institutional c/c I attended, a couple of my friends would do tiny little dance moves to Stamps-Baxter songs that had a beat. Just enough so as to not get caught. I guess you had to be there, but it was hilarious at the time. :D

True....no filter, no boundaries. Some feel justified in saying whatever enters their
minds, all for the ultimate good of the target audience -- i.e., getting them back
into the pew at the next appointed time.

Re: C of C People Can Be Mean
I just recently found out that when my ex died, the minister actually stated from the pulpit that he probably would have lived a lot longer if his ex wife and adult child had continued to live good Christian lives. The fact that we both left the CofC probably contributed to his death. I can't imagi...
