Re: Black-American experiences

Glad the church ended up getting rid of him and that you've had a positive experience overall. Its been a hit or miss for me, depending on the church I attended at the time. While attending church in AZ, I’ve witnessed preferential treatment in social gathering or helping some members in need. I re...

Re: Black-American experiences

I'm black, and growing up my family has been members of predominantly black and white congregations. I spent the longest time at a predominantly white congregation (20+ years), and I do not feel anyone was treated with a lower status because of race. In incidents that happened behind closed doors, I...

Re: Those outside The Church

I took a history of religion course in Jr. college, and I remember the professor brought up the coc. He laughed as he said "they think they're the only ones going to heaven!" This guy had a wealth of knowledge, and I wondered why would such an intelligent man laugh at the coc because I was...

Re: Hi there

Welcome to the forum. I felt trapped too, but I quietly slipped away. I now attend a non coc and I have grown more in two years than my time with the coc. It's not easy getting out, but I hope you can find a way. :D

Re: That Time of Year Again...

Gospel meetings. Every time we had one at my congregation someone would remember a time waaaay back in the day where they had a ton of baptisms at gospel meetings. Now they don't have any! One I attended a few years ago a preacher badgered a woman in the audience because she was not a member of &quo...

Re: Left coc long ago. Husband left recently..

Thanks for sharing, welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear what you are going through, and of course most people who are deep in the coc think they can say who goes to hell and who does not. They have no power to say where someone is going, and the arrogant stance of the coc still blows my mind. You wi...

I left at 40 after a few years of off and on study about the true origin of the coc.

Re: What does the COC think about Duck Dynasty?

2 years ago Jep Robertson flew up North to speak to my Chuch. It's a mega-Church of 5000 plus members over 2 services each Sunday. We were told the Robertson family reviewed our website including 'what we believe'. They also called around for references. Jep was 'approved' to speak to us. Over 10,0...
