Re: CoC Impact
Very true. And studying was what eventually took me away from the Church of Christ. So kudos to pointing me in the right direction. :-) How were you able to look at your Bible knowledge as something positive? When everything went down in 2017 with my family, I really struggled with maybe there wasn...

This has been a hard pill to swallow.faithfyl wrote:Sometimes you have to realize the only thing you shared with someone is some DNA. In order to live your best life, you have to separate from that person, sometimes even if you still love them very much.

Re: Christmas and Rumination
I am very sorry for your situation Mamabear....and for all of those who have gone through something like this. Do you and your husband know a "third party" who would be neutral as between you and your family who could try to establish and maintain some form of communication?? It just seem...

Parents
Has anyone left and actually never spoken with their parents again after leaving?
Or let a long time pass before speaking again? If so, how long?

Re: Christmas and Rumination
How do you communicate with your families? I haven’t spoken to mine since February because in all honesty I think I would have a full blown panic attack. I have had one each time they’ve written, so I know speaking by phone or face to face would trigger me. Leaving the c of C or similar groups is d...

Re: CoC and Introversion
My father preached regarding introverts and essentially said you can’t be one and be a Christian.
We were in a small congregation I no longer attend. The man he was preaching to left.
I feel embarrassed knowing he was called out for having a different personality type.

Christmas and Rumination
I feel like the holidays have sucked this year. As much as I want to embrace this freedom I feel after leaving for the second time, I can’t help but also feel like I’m missing out on the happiness found when families can come together. I see my husbands family getting together and laughing and smili...
