I read the posts on this site and it makes me realize I am not alone. I don't actually know anyone who has left the coC besides me, and people in the real world wouldn't understand my issues. Thanks for the support and community.

History is the fiction we invent to persuade ourselves that events are knowable and that life has order and direction. That's why events are always reinterpreted when values change. We need new versions of history to allow for our current prejudices.

Welcome from another Longhorn. Hubby and I lived in Austin for over 35 years before moving west. We went for the University, and we stayed because we loved Austin. Looking back and doing some math, I was in a little tiny COC (non-institutional) for about 12 years there. Then I was an Exer for the remaining time. Austin was big enough even then so I could avoid running into my old church friends. Once every couple of years I would see someone in the grocery store...
Moogy
NI COC for over 30 years, but out for over 40 years now
Mostly Methodist for about 30 years.
Left the UMC in 2019 based on their decision to condemn LGBT+ persons and to discipline Pastors who perform same-sex marriages

Love their liberal theology, but not the social liberalism.
