Hello all,
I must say that this board really hits home with me! I left the COC at age 20 and am now 47. My final straw was when I got married and my parents and sisters refused to come to my wedding due to my wife not being a member of the COC. TY for all of your support and for having this board!

Good grief, that's cold. My parents came to MY wedding. Of course, mother also made sure to tell me, the day before the ceremony, that I would burn in hell forever, but at least they ATTENDED. I guess it's a tradeoff.

Welcome to the ex-board.

(daddy's quote: 'you usually make good decisions'. Was that approval or a slam? I've never been sure).

(we are coming up on our 28th anniversary this June, by the way)
History is the fiction we invent to persuade ourselves that events are knowable and that life has order and direction. That's why events are always reinterpreted when values change. We need new versions of history to allow for our current prejudices.

Welcome, that is terrible. Mine came to the wedding when I married a Catholic, but obviously not happy about it. I left when I was 20 and and now 50, but the scars do linger. Hope you find some comfort here.
