God gave us dogs so we would understand love, and then gave us cats so we could comprehend serving others.

Believe it or not, the Book of Mormon also states explicitly the name of the church is the Church of Christ.

Creeds are a part of Church history period. The Nicean Creed comes from the first council under Constantine. There was no agreed on Bible then. This is around 325 AD. The main question: "What is the nature of Jesus? Is he God or man? Even the Gospels dodge this question. Only Matthew and Luke have a virgin birth. Only John considers Jesus to be God. You can see the problem when someone asks: "How can God die?" Theologically it's a nightmare. The link is a discussion and gives an overview

The next link is a translation of the creed. It is a basic statement of belief. Most churches are part of this. The CoC is conspicuously absent. Catholic means right thinking and essentially the same as orthodox. I don't think there is anything objectionable here. Keep in mind that beliefs among people were very diverse and this creed sits at the very basis of Christianity. I guess the CoC wants to be unique. The problem is that creeds are used to separate the wheat from the chaf. While the CoC would basically agree it would have been subject to destruction in the fourth Century. So much for false AD 33 claims. It simply does bot stand the test of History. The Marcionites are no more, the Ebionites are no more, and gnostics are no more. The CoC is not there. There are many other heresies that were wiped out. The gospel of Marcion has not been found. It was probably burned as heresy.

Re: What is Happening to the Churches of Christ?
The problem the Church of Christ has is that any change undermines the falsely held one true church belief. The true church never needs to change or tweek anything. Admitting you need to change or tweek your beliefs cracks that core foundational belief that the CoC is the one true church. If that core belief is admitted to have been wrong then why should the people stay?
Excellent comments. The "one true church" things is indeed a false belief; in fact it's an outright lie!
As B.H. mentioned, any change would mean that C o C wasn't what it really claims to be.

Please respect the rules of the board.
History is the fiction we invent to persuade ourselves that events are knowable and that life has order and direction. That's why events are always reinterpreted when values change. We need new versions of history to allow for our current prejudices.
