Changing the subject slightly, I was asked to be a deacon once upon a time. Since the CoC claims to be the same church that you read about in the bible (LOL), I asked why we didn't have any female deacons like Phoebe in Rom. 16:1. Basically the reply that I got was that "we don't do it that way now, deacons can only be men". I told them as soon as they decide to appoint a female deacon, I would be honored to serve along side her as a deacon.
