The last time I was in a Church of Christ was right after my dad died. My mother really, really, really wanted me and my other close family members to go to church with her. In a moment of weakness I did to please her. It's been about a year and a half and it was a drab and as useless as it ever was, with the sermon being nothing of any import.
I hadn't gone to church for several years before that. They just came out with the new directory and I noticed they finally took my name off the membership roll. I was thumbing through it over at momma's. It took like 15 years to get my name of that roll.... go figure..
