One thing about your religion, BH...I have never seen a musical instrument in one of their buildings. Do they ever use them?

Generally no.
I went to a neighbor gentleman's funeral a couple of years back at the First Baptist Church on 15th St next to HEB. The family wanted hymns sung as part of the funeral proceedings and they played the organ. That thing was so loud you could not hardly hear anyone singing. That's their business but I think it was counterproductive to the intended purpose.

Well I now attend/belong to (golly gee, I'm on the BOARD) of a Reform synagogue, and there is a choir (though not every week) and sometimes it is accompanied by a piano.
And sometimes the rabbi pulls out his sax (I kid you not).
At this point in my life, this is something I don't MIND, and I enjoy music played live and sung etc, as long as it isn't terrible (they aren't terrible).
But it still feels - sort of an interesting oddity, and not 'really' part of the program, so to speak. In other words (I think), I wouldn't miss it if it were gone, but not so much that I'd make it go away, if that makes sense.
I enjoy singing. I also think a capella singing is amazing. I also know that some people really shouldn't sing in public.
