Remarriage!
I watched several baptist sermons and two coc sermons on this. I can only conclude these are the worst and cruelest people imaginable, there is no sympathy or concern for anyone, particularly the children and families involved. And what about the poor person who is the subject of abuse? And I know people this happened to, their spouses hid their negative personality characteristics before marriage and the individuals had no idea what was coming, three people I know (1 male, 2 females) discovered this in the first week of marriage, two actually the first day. The baptists I listened to were worse than coc.

Re: Remarriage!
There were some CoC preachers that I knew about that had a much kinder approach to divorce and re-marriage. They did not see it as the unbreakable bond or unforgiveable sin. But of course they were considered to be false teachers by the "faithful".
The Baptist Church I went to for a few years had no problem with divorce and remarriage. But they were not fundamentalists.

It just amazes me how important an issue this is to the fundamentalists. I am forced to conclude they love to make others miserable and derive pleasure from that.
Re: Remarriage!
In thinking back, I might have to say the cofc view on marriage was traumatizing to me. Getting married triggered all kinds of unresolved issues. I guess that at almost 43 years in my relationship with my DH, I've resolved most, and we have built a good life together. Cofc as I knew it did a lot of damage to me personally. Chicken or egg? Egg or chicken? Nature vs nurture? Who knows.

Ivy, I am sure you were and are a very good wife to your husband. You always let him have the last word when he says "Yes, ma'am".
