Biggest lie told by CoC?

Here is an interesting question. What is the biggest lie told by the CoC. I will get it started. What I think is the biggest lie is the wine mentioned in the Bible wasn't alcoholic it was really grape juice. It doesn't say this anywhere else. The second I would rate as in the case of divorce for adultery the offending party cannot remarry, I haven't found anywhere this is stated. What are yours?

I think saying they are the one original church is a great whoopsie on their part.

Great topic. Let me think....
--If you are not a cofc member, you are not a Christian.
--Only cofc members will go to heaven. And some of them
likely won't be going.
--There was lots of gaslighting that went on as well. Ex: If you are unhappy in the church, you are the problem.
--Dinosaur fossils were planted by the devil to tempt you away from God (a little friend shared that jewel with me).
Just to name a few. But I'd say that first two are the worst.

Ivy: Along those lines I have heard someone say "there is a reason there is a highway to hell but only a stairway to heaven"!

That they were established on the Day of Pentecost in A.D. 33. In reality, the modern coC can trace it's origin no further back than Barton Stone's Cane Ridge meeting in 1801. To claim more than that is gross prevarication. The coC isn't identified by that name until around 1906. They are from being an ancient religious order.

The churches I went to for whatever reason never made that claim. Also I never once heard the names Alexander Campbell or Barton Stone uttered by a preacher.

We were always ALWAYS taught that the church was founded in AD 33 and that was carved on the cornerstone of the building. Also that the church had ALWAYS existed throughout history (without any evidence of that whatsoever). I NEVER heard the names 'Alexander Campbell' or 'Barton Stone' until I was much, MUCH older, and even then, nobody mentioned them FOUNDING the (eventual) Church of Christ. Their sole contribution, apparently, was to sort of REVIVE it. Which is why we had revivals.
I think. It was never really very clear, but we were 'fundamentalists' and proud of it - the Fundamentals of the Church was definitely available, even if 'the Stone-Campbell' movement wasn't.
Plus that if a New Testament fell to earth in darkest Africa (which we all assumed was entirely one very dark place) then whoever picked it up and read it (how they knew English was never mentioned), then they would inevitably START A CHURCH OF CHRIST and it would absolutely have that name, and 'do church' exactly like we did.
I heard that from otherwise presumably sane adults.

If a bible fell out of the sky where I live I would put it on a shelf with the others to gather dust.
