Young marriage

A relative of mine is only 20, now he's sharing pics on FB of all his H.U. friends who are engaged now, or at getting married. Engagement photos, wedding photos, etc. Apparently, most of these people met each other on a mission trip and after several weeks they got engaged. How does this happen so fast? And in some ways it makes me angry, because this is the same young man who opposes gay marriage, but he wants to celebrate his friends getting married when they are barely out of their teen years (or in some cases, still in the teen years). I am not clicking like on these photos and I may hide him from my newsfeed so I don't have to keep seeing them.

If I ever move to Crapistan to start a new life and get engaged to four wonderful Islamic women can I post the news on your facebook page?

Their going to have to draw lots on who gets knocked up first and which order. There is *no way* I am going to have four women pregnant in the same house all at once!

My sister's family is hardcore CoC and their kid got married at 21. My brother asked about them getting married so young and she basically said it was so they could have sex without going to hell. I guess it is "right" as long as not sowing any wild oats doesn't come back to haunt them at 40, but pretty mind blowing in 2016.

Yup, that sounds about right! When I graduated from David Lipscomb College way back in 1983, a bunch of my classmates were wed by the end of that Summer. (I think most opted for June weddings.) I was just not of that mindset. Nothing really wrong with it, though...

These kids have not even graduated. They are just in their sophomore year.

I don't feel like celebrating this. I guess they should do it if they must, but I'm not going to be giving them any high fives.

I could get four yurts from a Mongolian friend on the cheap. Good idea KLP.

Ah, young marriage. I got mixed messages in cofc about the timing of it. No sex before marriage, but wait for the "right one", and always remember that you only get one shot at it, because no remarriage after divorce. I was terrified about walking down the aisle, but thankfully it did work out. If I had married young I doubt that it would have gone well, considering the options I had back then.

And just an aside.....I started dating outside of the fold at about 16, and only a handful of times dated cofc men. The guys at church seemed more like siblings than romantic options.

I would love to see BH figuring out how to parent four tiny BH-es at once, not to mention how to be a husband to
four wives!!!  :D
