Yeah, I could wear pants on Wednesday night, even if there wasn't snow on the ground. Sunday morning, not so much.

nope - not us. Maybe a rare few brave women might show up on Wednesday night in a pants suit, but not US.
History is the fiction we invent to persuade ourselves that events are knowable and that life has order and direction. That's why events are always reinterpreted when values change. We need new versions of history to allow for our current prejudices.
