Tattle Tales
Tattle Tales
Friend works for one of the C of C-affilated organizations. Last week, when Lipscomb University was in the NCAA basketball tournament, some volunteers were in the building where he works. One of them, an older woman, started talking about the game, and he mentioned that while he was a UNC fan, it didn't matter who won. She started saying, "But, it's LIPSCOMB!" He mentioned he didn't go there, and was glad he went where he did.
The following day, he was called into his supervisor's office and told he mustn't say things like that about Lipscomb. The old woman tattled to someone, who told him, resulting in the talking-to. Old biddies, tattling like schoolchildren, is absurd.
Cultish, if you ask me.

Re: Tattle Tales
Don't the old ladies run all CoCs??
Re: Tattle Tales
At least he wasn't a Duke fan...dem Baptist are da debil
Isn't the world wonderful...I am all for rational optimism and I am staying positive.
Re: Tattle Tales
OMG that is hilarious.
I think the little old ladies are most likely the "phantom offendees" when there is a tattle tale situation. They especially love to
report young women to their mothers for being scantily clad in public.
I wonder if there could be some jealousy of the young...as well as the need to feel important.

Talked to him today, and he got in more hot water over it in the last couple of days. He suspects the volunteer wanted him fired, as she is connected to the org's big donors. He wasn't fired, but told his supervisor he knows now he has to watch his back.
I told him to start looking, and once he's gone, send a letter to her minister.

Re: Tattle Tales
I told him that once he is safely outta there, he should let her church know because she will probably tattle on or threaten other staff at the workplace. Not sure if he will heed any of my advice, but I know he is talking to several people he trusts.

Re: Tattle Tales
His problem is that the tattler is a donor. They seem to defer to donors on almost everything.Ivy wrote:Workplace bullying.Struggler wrote:I told him that once he is safely outta there, he should let her church know because she will probably tattle on or threaten other staff at the workplace. So wrong. People with money control pretty much everything everywhere.Struggler wrote:His problem is that the tattler is a donor.
